About your recent blog, I just wanted to say I totally agree. Personally, it makes me feel a kind of dread if I see my site in last updated even though I shouldn't.
Because of the influence of social media, it's agonizing to shake off the feeling of everything you say and do being monitored to the point where you don't want to try anything or fail.
You become a character of sorts. A product of those experiences that have taught you it's bad for even wanting to be seen by others if you make it too obvious.
A personal website completely contradicts that, and it freaks me out the most to have any control over it coming from an environment where everyone thinks of things in a way that's black and white. Only accepting people in ways that define if they are "good" or "bad" too.
Everyone wants attention, and that's good. Social media took away the desire to be yourself in the end. A desire for the illusory "perfect site" that everyone else will like except for you, the person you made it for in the first place? isn't going to happen though.
That's what I finally realized was the problem after trashing my site again, because if I didn't want those things to deter me again, then I actually needed to confront it.
Anyway, I appreciate that you said my fears in your blog, and wanted to share my thoughts too. Those words resonated with me!

Thank you for sharing your own experiences! You brought up a couple things that i didn't consider re: being too obvious about wanting to be seen and the feeling of being monitored. I personally struggle with feeling like i'm being "too open" when writing blog posts and the dichotomy between wanting to get my thoughts out versus the fear of being judged. Which, like you say, a personal website really forces you to confront first hand. We're all working on growing in a post-social-media world, which has its own challenges is what i'm getting at. Best of luck on your webdev journey, and I want to say again that I appreciate you sharing your personal thoughts
